Obituary of George Franklin, Crawford County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 1999 Cindy McCachern Hutsonville (IL) Herald, 16 Jun 1939 George Franklin, former resident of Hutsonville passed away at the home of his son, John, after a lingering illness of several months, at West Union, Ill., at 10:30 o'clock Saturday, June 10, 1939. Age 73 years, 10 months and 10 days. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Franklin and was born in Sullivan County, Indiana, August 31, 1865, coming to Hutsonville, Ill., at the early age of 3 years. He was united in marriage to S. Elizabeth Kinman, July 4, 1886. This union was blessed with five children, three of whom preceded him in death at an early age. His companion passed away on April 26, 1925. He is survived by two sons, Emery of Hutsonville and John of West Union, Ill. He was one of a family of six children, all of whom have preceeded him in death, except one brother, Edward Franklin of Pekin, Ill. He was united with the Church of Christ in Hutsonville about thirty-five years ago, and was a faithful believer of the scripture until death. Those left to mourn his going are two sons, Emery and John, one brother, Edward, ten grandchildren and several relatives and old companions. The funeral service was held at the Church of Christ Monday afternoon at 2:00 with Rev. I. O. Tedford in charge assisted by Rev. Wright of West Union.
