From the Wabash Pearl: ELDER G.M.CLEMENTS DIES Centralia IL. Jan 11, 1910 He was born in Crawford County Jan. 13th, 1865, died Jan 6, 1910 aged 44 years 11 months and 25 days. His father was Jacob Clements a well known baptist preacher of Crawford Co and helped to organize the first baptist Sunday School in said Co. He leaves surviving his wife and two brothers D. H. and R. M. Clements of Union,. IL. the was married to Flora Allison April 6, 1886. He united with the Baptist church at the age of 13. The Lord's spirit impressed him to preach the gospel. He located in Central City in 1893. Here with the aid of his wife he organized a Sunday school in that destitute little town where the gospel needed to be preached. In the meantime a preacher was sent for and a church was organized which consisted of but seven members. He was licensed to preach in Oct.1900, ordained May 1, 1901. He believed strongly in the immortality of the soul. After a few years of faithful work for his Master in the ministry, his health failed him and after 2 years of constant though patient suffering he responded to death's call. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon after which the remains were turned over to the Modern Woodmen and interred in the Centralia Cemetery. Those who attended from away were D. H. and R. M. Clements, S. W. Allison of Orchardsville, Dora Cannon of Xenia Ill., and Sarah Kent of Robinson, Ill.
