Obituary of Mrs Maggie Tenyson MILLMAN, Crawford County, Illinois This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Crawford County Web Site Palestine Reporter The death of Mrs. George Millman occurred at the home of her first husband's mother, Mrs. Thomas, Sunday at noon, after comparatively short illness. Mrs Millman, whose maiden name was Miss Maggie B. Tennyson ; was born at Gibson, Indiana Sept 20, 1851, and died Nov. 4, 1906, thus being 55 years, 1 month and 14 days of age at the time of her death. In 1860 at the age of nine years, she united with the Christian Church of this city . In 1871 she was united in marriage to Cicero Thomas to which union 4 children were born all of whom have preceded her to the other world with the exception of a son, Jerry, who resides in this city. A few years after her marriage to Mr. Thomas about 1878, he departed from Palestine and nothing was heard of him for several years until a report reached here that he had died in Alabama. His relatives and friends here doubted the authenticity of this report for a time but as nothing further was heard from him after a considerable space of time, his de! ath was decided to be certain. In 1883, she was united in marriage to Mr. George Millman and they removed to Texas to reside. To this union one child a daughter was born, she also having passed to the great beyond about a year ago. Mr. Millman's death occurred at Roby, Texas, August 25 1901, after which she removed to Indian Territory and resided with her brother Alfred Tennyson for a time, then removing to Texas where she remained until her return to Palestine about the first of last July where she has since resided at the home of Mrs. Thomas. Prior to her departure for Texas, Mrs. Millman withdrew from the Christian Church in this city and became a member of the Presbyterian Church and after her removal to Texas, she joined the Missionary Baptist Church, her nephew Rev. J. W. Tennyson, being a pastor of that denomination . She is survived by her son Jerry Thomas, of this city, three brothers, Jeston, Alfred Tennyson of OK and Gus Tennyson of Robinson, two grandchildren and! a host of friends to mourn her loss. The funeral was conducted at her late home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. O. L. Markman of the M.E.
