Obituary of Mrs Headley, Crawford County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 1999 Cindy McCachern Oblong Oracle, Friday, 11 July 1913 After a lingering illness lasting several weeks from a complication of diseases, she passed away at her palatial country home in Dogwood vicinity Sunday evening and was intered in the Wilkin cemetery Tuesday forenoon. Mrs. Headley was one of the foremost women of her neighborhood, while her good name was hearalded and known throughout the township and over Crawford county. As a hospitable character, one with a big heart and open heandedness she had no peer, always anxious to do something for the neighbor and a friend in need. In the absence of a regularly written obituary we can say nothing about her aside from this general allusion. The Oracle counted upon her as being one of its best friends and supporters and it is with sincere regret that we are compelled to pen about the death of so noble and kind hearted woman. For truly she was such. The funeral services were held from the Missionary Baptist church at or near the Wilkin cemetery conducted by Rev. Jacobs, pastor of the Christian church at Newton of which denomination Mrs. Headley was a member, her membership being with that church in Oblong. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations or persons.
