Ryan Odell   26 March 1913, Robinson (IL) Constitution   Born on Way from Virginia, Dies at Age Seventy-Six   Mrs. Isabella Odell of Oblong, An Interesting and Prominent Woman Succumbs to Old Age   Oblong and vicinity lost perhaps its oldest citizen Monday when Mrs. Isabella C. Odell departed this life, because of the infirmities of old age, surrounded by all members of the surviving family.   She was well known and has scores of friends in the county and other places who knew her because of her progressive spirit and high womanly character.   Funeral services were held from the family residence Wednesday conducted by Rev. O'Neal of the North Christian church, interment in Oblong cemetery. Those attending from a distance were a sister, Mrs. Fannie Ruckle of Casey, a daughter, Mrs. C. C. Johnson and daugher, Mrs. Will Brace and her husband, of Miles City, Mont., David Eaton, a half brother, of Trenton, Ill, and her only living son, Dr. D. T. Odell and family of Mt. Carmel, Ill.  Following is the obituary of this interesting and prominent woman.   Isabella C. Ryan was born in Highland county, Ohio, Nov. 13, 1836, while the parents were enroute from Virginia to Illinois, and died in Oblong March 17, 1913, aged 76 years, 4 months and 4 days.  She was married to W. J. Odell March 22, 1855.  To this union were born 10 children of whom four died in infancy, and in middle age a son, W. W. There remain surviving five children to withstand the pangs engendered by the loss of a mother, viz:  Arminta Odell, Mrs. Emma Miner and Mrs. J. M. Sheets of Oblong, and Mrs. C. C. Johnson of Miles City, Mont., daughters and a son, Dr. D. T. Odell of Mt. Carmel, Ill.; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren, a sister Mrs. Fannie Ruckle of Casey and a half brother, David Eaton of Trenton, Ill.   The deceased was bereft of her husband Feb. 10, 1888, and never married again. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations or persons.
