Obituary of Jane Athey York, Crawford County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Cindy McCachern Obituary of Jane Athey York December 1909   Mrs. Jane York, wife of Benjamin York, and daughter of Thomas and Mary E. Athey, was born in Licking county, Ohio, January 23, 1835.  She came to this state with her father at the age of sixteen and passed from this life, at her home three miles north of Robinson, Illinois, on December 26, 1909, at the age of 74 years, 11 months, and 3 days.   She was married to Benjamin York, March 4, 1854.  To this union was born ten children:  Willis R. Alice A., Mary O, Eva J., Ida M., John T., Amanda E., Maria Adeline, Cora F., and Leottie.  Of these, Eva J., John T., and Amanda E. have preceded her to the beyond.   There are thirty-eight grandchildren and twenty-two great- grandchildren of whom all are living except five of the grandchildren.   Her brothers and sisters are George, Robert, Alpheus and Marshall Athey and Mrs. Minerva Keith living, and William Franklin and Willis deceased.  Besides these she leaves a host of other relatives and friends, who sympathize with the faithful husband and loving children.   She became a christian at the age of twelve and has been a faithful follower of her Lord, as shown by the fact that all her children have united with the church.   After an illness of four years, which sh bore with Christian fortitude and patience, she went to meet her Saviour whom she has served so long.   Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. M.
