Obituary of Jasper BENNETT, Crawford County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Cindy McCachern Obituary of Jasper Bennett Hutsonville (IL) Herald, 19 December 1924 Jasper Bennett, eldest son of James M. and Sarah A. Bailiff Bennett was born in Crawford Co, Ill. May 8, 1849, died in Texarkana Dec. 7, 1924 aged 75 years, 6 months, and 29 days. He was united in marriage to Brooks Lanhan in 1873. To this union four daughters were born, two of whom, Mrs. R. L. Williams of Overton, Texas and mrs. John Burkett of Tyler, Texas survive him. In August 1881, he was married a second time to Mrs. Ellen Frankinberry. To this union three children were born, Ralph of Spokone, Washington, Mrs. Ray White, and Lois of Chicago, Ill. Ellen, his wife, died in Jan. 1911. On Oct. 1915, he was married to Mrs. Anna Brown of Texarkana who survives him. Jasper met with an accident when a young man rendering him a life time cripple. He immediately fitted himself for a teacher which profession he followed about 40 years teaching in many prominent schools throughout the country. Disceased is survived by his widow, five children, thirteen grandchildren, two brothers, two sisters, and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Bailiff church west of West york on Thursday, Dec. 11th at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev.
