Obituary of John William BLINE, Crawford County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Cindy McCachern From 21 Feb 1917, Robinson (IL) Argus Obituary of John William Bline John William Bline was born on Dec. 25, 1831, in the Shanadoah Valley, Virginia, near Strasburg, and when a lad moved with his parents, Jacob and Elizabeth Fredrick Bline, to Licking Co., Ohio, where he grew to manhood, with four brothers and four sisters.  He married Elizabeth A. Blackaby in 1854.  In 1870 he moved with his wife and five children to Crawford Co, Ill, leaving one child buried in Ohio.  He settled on a farm near Annapolis where tow more children were born.  He was a successful farmer finding nothing too hard for him to do.  In 1891 the mother of his children died, leaving one child and himself alone in the home.  He was married again in 1892 to Mrs. Emmerine Nible, he then left the farm moving to Annapolis where he died.  When a young man he was converted and joined the Evangelical Lutheran Church, remaining in that faith until his death.  He was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather, being greatly loved by his children and grandchildren.  Honored esteemed and trusted by his fellow men.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge which he attended as long as there was a lodge close enough to attend.  In whatever he did, he put his strength and conscience.  Whereever weighed, he was not found wanting, his integrity was never questioned.  In public or private life he never betrayed a confidence and having faithfully kept the laws of God and man, he attained to the ripe age of 85 years, 1 month and 17 days.  Dying on Feb. 12, 1917.  As he had lived firm in a Christian’s hope of a home in Heaven and meeting with those gone before. He leaves his present wife and six children, namely, Mrs. Emma A. Brauch of Lawrenceville, Ill., Mrs. J. H. Ferrel, of Robinson, Ill, Mrs. Jennie M. Brooks of Newark, Ohio, Mrs. O. H. Cunningham and Clarence C. Bline of Annapolis, Ill., and James P. Bline of Santa Ross, California together with 25 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren to grieve as only a wife and children, can grieve, for their beloved dead, he also leaves one brother and two sisters living in Newark, Ohio. Thus passes away one who over 85 years ago started to walk either upon the broad highway that leadeth to destruction or upon the straight and narrow way that leadeth to life eternal, receiving his portion of work or play sunshine or shadow joy or sorrow prosperity or adversity pressing onward in communion with his God hearing a few short hours ago the words, It is enough, come up higher. Funeral services were said at the church in Annapolis last Wednesday at 1 and conducted by Daniel Langafelter and burial was made at Mt. Pleasant cemetery by the side of his wife, who died 24 years ago. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations or persons.
