LEE GAINES DIED In company with Duane Gaines of Robinson we attended the funeral of Lee Gaines last Monday at his late home what is know as the Tom Parker farm near Canaan. Mr. Gaines was always a very friendly and sociable man and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him, He had lived in different localities in Montgomery and every community in which he had dwelt was well represented at the funeral. From all those different places we heard nothing but words of praise concerning him as having been a good neighbor. There was a very large attendance present. The funeral was preached by Rev. L. W. Porter of Newton formally in charge of the Flat Rock circuit and so universally liked and loved by his parishioners and the people in general. He was assisted by Rev. C. D. Tritt who is now pastor at Flat Rock and the churches belonging to that circuit. Lee Gaines, son of Geo. and Margaret Gaines was born in Sept 1859 and died Saturday, May 28th , 1910. Was married to Prudevie Edgington Aug. 17, 1887. To this union were born six children one of whom died in infancy. Bro. Gaines was converted at Wesley Chapel M.E. Church in March 1900 under the ministry of P.C. Carlin. His sickness extended over a period of one year, which was borne in an uncomplaining, cheerful manner. His untimely death is mourned by his wife, three sons and two daughters with other relatives and many friends.
