Transcribed by Dan Weger. Mrs. Margaret Jane Wiman (Feb. 23, 1914) Margaret Jane Wiman was born April 8, 1842 in Crawford County, Ill., where she spent all her life. She was the daughter of James and Eliza Wiman and was 3rd in a family of nine children, four of which have preceded her in death. She was converted in a meeting held in a barn about the year 1858 under the labors of Elder Jonathan Wiman, her uncle, and put in her membership at West Harmony church when dedicated in 1875, and remained a faithful member until death. She was united in marriage to Tandy R. Stratton April 1, 1866, who after nearly 48 years of wedded life is left to mourn his loss. Besides her husband she leaves two brothers, G. H. Wiman and A. C. Wiman, two sisters, Mrs. Emily Holmes and Mrs. Rebecca Vaughn, four children, Mrs. Dora Wilkin, Mrs. Fanny Drake and Ira and Otto Stratton, 15 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many relatives and friends. One grandson preceded her in death, being the only death in the immediate family. She died Feb. 23, 1914, after several weeks of suffering, aged 71 years, 10 months and 15 days. She seemed to know that the end was near and expressed herself as being in the hands of a merciful Savior, and said, "I am fully resigned to go or stay." Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. ***************************************************************** USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
