JEFFRIES SON OF JOHN AND ROSE ANN JEFFRIES DIES Rush Jeffries was born July 26th 1878 died July 9th, 1910 aged 31 years 11 months and 13 days. He joined the United Brethren church in Oblong under Bro. Herbert's preaching when 15 years old, and was a boy of strong faith in Jesus, always speaking of how needful to be ready to answer the summons should it come at morning, noon or night. He was a sufferer of the dreaded while plague the past two years and hasn't been able to do anything since. He went to California Nov. 12, 1908 hoping to gain his health but of no avail returning in March 1909 but gradually lost strength, although almost always keeping up and his death even though expected was a sad blow to all, although all had been done that loving hands could do. He was an ambitious young man and endured his pain and suffering and said nothing. He had a smile for every one he met and was a boy greatly loved by all who knew him and made friends every where. Cora C., a sister preceded him Sept 2 ,1908 to a better land. He leaves to mourn their loss a Father, Mother, one brother, Percy L. and one sister, Alta G. wife of Cazzie Seeders and many friends. He has been a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge of Palestine for the past 6 years and until the past two years was an active worker and regular attendant. He has gone to the long sleep which you and I must some day endure. Peace be to his ashes and may we all meet on the golden shore with Jesus. The funeral was preached Sunday afternoon at 1:30 by Rev. Markman who was assisted by Rev. D. A. Boatwright. There was a very large crowd present and the Odd Fellows had charge of the ceremonies. *************************************************************** USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
