Obituary of Raney May Leonard Spivey, Crawford County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Cindy McCachern 2 August 1912, Hutsonville (IL) Herald Obituary of Raney May Leonard Spivey Ranie May Leonard, daughter of Solathial and Tobitha Leonard, was born in Crawford county, Illinois, Oct. 1, 1862, departed this life July 25, 1912, being aged 49 years, 9 months and 24 days. She was married to Marion Spivey in June 1878, and to this union were born two sons, Ednie, who prceded her in death, and Eugene. She was converted in a revival meeting at the Bailiff church January 5, 1905, and with her husband united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church in which she lived a consistent Christian, faithful in attendance by always doing what she could and telling her friends what Jesus did for her. In her last moments she said, "I have fought a good fight and kept the faith, from henceforth there is a crown of righteousness laid up in Heaven for me." She leaves a husband, a son, an aged father, four sisters, two brothers and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her death. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon, Rev. T. C. Bailiff at the home.
