Obituary of Sarah Ann HIGHSMITH, Crawford County, Illinois This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: June Hanson Sarah Ann Highsmith was born at Flat Rock, Crawford county, Ill., July 1st, 1844; departed this life March 23, 1927 at the age of 82 years, 8 months and 23 days. She was married to W.T. Cunningham in 1869 and to this union were born four children - David F., who lies beside his father in Fairview cemetery near Howard; an infant who is buried in Illinois; Mrs. Isiah Johnson of Harris, Ark; Mrs H.L. Brown of Cherryvale. Also surviving is a step-son, F.H. Cunningham of Independence Kansas. With her husband and children, David and Fred, she came to Kansas in 1874 where they resided on their farm near Howard for 29 years. Mr. and Mrs. Cunningham then moved to Howard, where they resided until his death. June 9, 1914. Since the death of her husband she has spent most of her time at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H.L. Brown, where she was at the time of her death. On October 25, 1926, Mrs. Cunningham suffered a paralytic stroke from which she never recovered. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church in charge of Rev. E. L. Hurley, pastor of the church. Burial was at Fairview cemetery, Cherryvale. ------------- Card of Thanks We wish to thank the friends and neighbors who so willingly extended their help and sympathy during our recent bereavement.
