BIG SIX DAVIS Wabash Pearl 1910 Sept 30 We made mention of the death of Shirley Davis known here as "Big Six Davis". We have learned that he was killed at Vienna, Ill., last week after shifting freight cars on the Cairo division of the big four. He was doing the part known to the railroad men known as staking cars, the engine on one track and pushing the car on another by the means of a stake or pole. Mr. Davis was handling the stake which slipped and threw him directly under the moving car, killing him instantly. His body was brought through Friday to Linton, Ind., where services were held under the auspices of the Masonic Order. He lived with his family at Mt. Carmel at the time of his death. *************************************************************** USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
