Obituary of Sarah Estella WILLIAMS, Crawford County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Misty Curl August 1940 Unknown newspaper SARAH ESTELLA WILLIAMS Sarah Estella, daughter of Jacob L. and Caroline Wood Myers was born near Annapolis, Ill., October 18, 1859 and passed away in her home in Eaton August 17, 1940, age 80 years, 9 months and 29 days. She attended school at Old Muddy Creek, Bellair, Annapolis and Teachers' Normal in Robinson, Illinois. She taught school for ten years. On June 9, 1887 she was married to James Thomas Williams. Six children were born to this union, Bessie, Georgie, Harry, Claudie, Fannie and Edgar. In early womanhood she was a member of the Methodist church in Annapolis. In 1889 she united with the Christian church at Eaton and she remained a firm believer in the doctrine of the New Testament church. Aunt Sally, as she was known to all was of an unassuming nature, industrious, generous, friendly and sympathetic, always willing to help others and enjoyed association with her relatives, neighbors and friends. She was devoted to her family, always doing something for their comfort. She was delighted when they were happy, deeply sorrowed when they were sad and ever ready to admonish them to be honest and upright. Her seven grandchildren were a great source of comfort to her. She loved all children and found much pleasure in their presence. She is preceded in death by her husband and two little sons. He died October 23, 1911 and they in 1892 and 1895. Those surviving are four children, Bessie, Harry, Mrs. Fannie Poorman of Eaton and Edgar of Union, Ind. Seven grandchildren, Winfred Williams of Ada, Okla., Betty Lou and Harry Lee Williams, Helen and Harold Gene Poorman of Eaton, Mary Ann and Virginia Wililams of Union, Ind. Two daughters-in-law, Jewel and Goldia, one son-in-law, Edgar Poorman, on sister, Mrs. Lillie Evans and one brother, Dora Myers, both of Eaton; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
