Obituary of S R MOCK, Crawford County, Illinois This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Crawford County Web Site I have no connection to this family. S. R .MOCK DIES S. R. Mock was born in Lancaster Ohio, Aug. 7,1833 and died at his home in Oblong, May 3, 1910, following an affliction of heart trouble which first became evident last Sept. For several months his health has been gradually failing, and his death at this time was not unexpected, although his condition frequently showed marked improvement and gave hope that his life might be indefinitely prolonged. He was the son of Robert and Margaret Mock, who came to this state from Ohio in the fall of 1849 and located on a farm east of the city, just north of the present William Wood place. Here he lived with his parents until the time of his marriage to Mis Amelia Eoff on Jan. 28, 1856. The life of Mr. and Mrs. Mock was ideal in its domestic relation and in his home Mr. Mock was one of the kindest and best of men. Mr. Mock was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church, having united with that church in 1860. He was one of the influential members of the local congregation and was always active in the affairs of the organization. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Mock moved to a farm south of the Central Union schoolhouse and for many years made their home there, faithfully laboring for the material comforts which they enjoyed in their old age, and for the past 25 years they have made their home in this. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Thursday afternoon, Rev. Pinkstaff of Flat Rock, conducting the service. ----Oblong Oracle & WabashPearl 1910 *************************************************************** USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
