Our people was startled by the report about 7 o'clock PM that Thomas Miller hung himself. He went to his woodshed and made a noose of 4 strands of binder twine and placed it over his head, he then got on a chicken coop and tied the twine to a ten penny nail and jumped off. The nail was drove in an inch siding about 6 feet high. His wife went in the building to get chicken feed and seen him hanging there. She ran and got a pair of scissors and cut he rope. He had told her a few minutes before that he was going downtown and she supposed he had. He gasped once or twice after she had cut the twine. He was a son of Simon O. Miller of this place, about 24 years old and leaves a wife, father, mother, 3 brothers and 2 sisters to mourn this rash act. His uncle Isaac Miller shot himself about 14 years ago.
