Obituary of William C PEARCE, Crawford County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Cindy McCachern Obituary of William C. Pearce   31 October 1933 William C. Pearce, a native of Hutsonville, died at his home in Los Angeles California, last Saturday.  The body will be returned to this county, and funeral services will be held at the church at Trimble, on Saturday afternoon at two o'clock following which burial will be made in Oak Grove cemetery, by his wife who died some few years ago.  Mr. Pearche is survived by the son, with whom he made his home the past few years.   Early in the present year, Mr. Pearce was honored with a reception and dinner ___ by the Southern California Council of Religious Education at Los Angeles, in celebration of his forty-four years continuous service in organized Sunday School work.  At this reception, the biography of Mr. Pearce, prepared by a Rose Demerest, who for twelve years had been associated with Mr. Pearce in the International Sunday School Association, was presented.  We here present the biography as so prepared.   William Cliff Pearce Back of every personality, of all unusual achievements on finds contributing factors.  If, therefore, one were to seek explanation for the varied abilities and accomplishments of W. C. Pearce, on would find interesting and determining achievements.   On May 4, 1864, there was born into the Pearce family in the then flourishing city of Hutsonville, Illinois, a boy who was named William Cliff.  The Pearce family was of Welsh ancestry, though they had been in this country since early in the ........From his Scotch ancestry came the canny money sense which made of this man the rare combination of a great religious leader and a business and financial executive.  From his English ancestry came the faculty for organization, and from his Irish forebears the ready tongue which made him a master on the platform.  In the days of his greater physical strength, to listen to W. C.
