Estate Records of Hannah Stanfield

October 1876, Crawford Co, IL, Estate Record File Box 79, Case 14

Petition of Lewis Maddox in the matter of the estate of Hannah Stanfield
deceased for letters of administration.

To the Hon. John B. Harper, Judge of the County Court of Crawford County in
the state of Illinois.

The petition of the undersigned, Lewis Maddox respectfully represents that
Hannah Stanfield, late of the county of Crawford aforesaid, departed this
life in said county, on or about the 10th day of September A. D. 1876,
leavning no last will and testament so far as your petitioner knows or
believes.

And this petition further shows that the said Hannah Stanfield died, seized
and possessed of real and personal estate consisting chiefly of 1 horse, 2
cows, 1 yar ?, household furniture all of said personal estate being
estimated to be worth about three hundred dollars.  Deceased left surviving
her as heirs Sampson Stanfield,  Jesse Stanfield, Fielden Stanfield,
William Stanfield,  Demarius Higgins, Hannah Tompson, John Thompson,
Sampson Thompson, Jesse Thompson and Elias Thompson., her children as
heirs.  That your petitioner (being ? by ? of the heir of said deceased,
and) believing that the said estate should be immediately administered as
well for the proper management of said Estate as for prompt collection of
the assets, by virtue of her right under the statue we therefore prays that
your honor will grant leters of administration to Lewis in the premises,
upon his taking the oath prescribed by the statute and entering into bond
in such sum, and with securtities, as may be approved by your honor.

State of Illinois, Crawford County.  Lewis Maddox being duly sworn, deposes
and says that the facts averred in the above petition are true, according
to the best of his knowledge, information and belief, sworn to and
subscribed before me, William C Wilson, Cleerk of the county Court of
Crawford County, this October 1876.
