The woman had been subject to melancholia, brought on by bereavements and having twice narrowly escaped death by fire. A few days ago she went to Mattoon, accompanied by her two sons, 8 and 6 years old. She cashed a check for $100 and left for Kokomo, Ind., with the children. Aided by detectives, her husband found her and brought her home. Mrs. O'Day more recently gave her younger son a dose of medicine for measles. Two hours later he died in great agony. Mrs. O'Day was also stricken and expired five hours later. The relations declare that she gave the child the wrong medicine by mistake and the shock of the discovery killed her.
