From Farmer City Journal 19 May 1896: Polly A. DUNCAN and Charles H. LAMB, of Bement, were married Saturday at Springfield by a woman, Mrs. Mattie Hart Younkin. The bride refused to take the name of her husband. He objected at first, but finally submitted, seeing she had the best of the argument. Mr. Lamb, whose name evidently don't belie his nature, is a wealthy farmer, while his wife is a temperance advocate and a woman suffragist. ------------------------------------------------------------- UGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organiza- tions or persons.
