A drunken wretch by the name of Harrison Sumner went to the post-office and commenced abusing the postmaster, Lewis Roberts, when Mr. Roberts ordered him out. A few moments after the postmaster left the office to go to his supper. He had not gone but a few steps when the villain Sumner plunged a dirk-knife into him, killing him almost instantly. Sumner attempted to make his escape, but the citizens were too fast for him. --He was caught and lodged in jail.
