Obituary of Mrs James (Lillian Kidwell) DERBY, Douglas County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 1999 Terry Parks Tuscola Journal, Saturday, June 25, 1898---Mrs. James Derby died Wednesday morning after a lingering illness of the dreded disease consumption [read TB]. She had been ailing almost a year. All that loving hands and medical skill could do was done for her but to no avail. On last Sunday she became worse and from then on until her death, Wednesday morning, she sank very rapidly. The funeral services were held at the [Murdock] M. E. Church of which she was a member at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, Rev. D. D. Kensit conducting the services. The remains were interred in the Murdock cemetery. She leaves a husband, two children, father, mother, four sisters and three brothers............obit ends.
