H. SHANK, farmer; P. O. Paris; is the son of George H. and Rebecca (Hawkins) Shank; he was born in Greene Co., Ohio, Sept. 22, 1844; here he was raised and received his education, graduating at the Miami Commercial College in 1863. During the late war, he went as a soldier in the service of his country. He was married Sept. 29, 1864, to miss Mary J. Steel. In 1866, he came to Edgar Co. and began farming and manufacturing tile; he manufactured the first tile of the county; he has a nice little farm of eighty acres, well cultivated and improved. Their family consisting of five children, named as follows--Carrie E., John A., Jessie S., Nellie M. and Nettie E.
