This is early Edgar Co, IL information. The Hogue brothers married Knight Sisters, daus of James Knight JR, son of James Knight Sr and Margaret Prigmore/Pridmore who was a Rev War Soldier. They moved to Washington Twp, Wayne Co, IA, the same spring. He had two brothers and wives already here in Washington Twp. John and Elizabeth (KNIGHT) Hogue (he bought their farm), and the other brother William and Hettie Hogue. William was killed in the Civil War at battle in Mississippi. James bought their land and got 80 acres by patent from a land grant signed by President Franklin Pierce. They had nine children, of which two died as babies. !Jasper N Hogue, born 1854 and died 1937. He was married to Rosetta Ellan Niday. Their family was Ottis Hogue who married Pearl Bone. Their son was Mardis Hogue, who was married to Frances Nessen. Ottis, Pearl and Mardis are all deceased. Frances Nessen died 7/19/1976. JC Hogue, who married Dollie Mae Mead and both are deceased. They had three daughters Helen of Corydon; Louise Stevens of Chetek, WI; and Adalyne McCartney of Davenport, IA. Edith Hogue Jaques, who married Allie Jaques and had one son, Lester. All are deceased. !Mabel Hogue Clow married Arb Clow, who is deceased, and Mabel lives in Boston, at age 89 with her daughter. !Persis Hogue Beal married Grover Beal, who is deceased and Persis lives in Yorba Linda, CA. She has two sons. !James Addison, son of James Barton Hogue was born in 1858 and died in 1936. He married Rose McMains and they had two sons, Chester and Earnest. They are all deceased. !Rosetha, Mina, and William Hogue all children of James Barton, lived on the home place all their lives and are now all deceased. Lillian Hogue, the sixth child of James Barton Hogue married Samuel Perkins and is deceased. !Ursula Hogue married Frank Moore and they had two sons. James and Lawrence. James is deceased and Lawrence lives in WI. Helen Hogue is the only descendant of James B Hogue still living in Wayne Co today and owns 300 acres of the first land purchased in 1853 in Washington Twp. !William Hogue, brother of James Barton Hogue was born 4/3/1824 at Terre Haute, Indiana and died in battle, at Port Gibson, MS, on 5/14/1863. He was married 8/14/1848 in Indiana to Hetty Ann Moore. They moved to Washington Twp, Wayne Co, IA in 1850. They were the parents of eight children: Harriet, James B, Margaret J, Frances E, William E, and Joseph G, plus two daughters who died at birth. Harriet married Phillip Brock in 1867 in Wayne Co. James B married Jennie Woollis in Wayne Co. Margaret married Joseph Kellenbarger at Cambria in 1875. Frances married Jacob Utter in 1873. William E and Joseph G never married. After William's death, Hetty Hogue and all her family with exception of Frances Utter, moved to Merna, NE. Richard Henry Kellenbarger, a grandson married Dora Faye, a sister of Elmer and Walte(r?)
