Obituary of Adona ARTERBURN, Edgar County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Cindy McCachern Obituary of Adona Arterburn Thursday, 7 February 1924, Kansas (IL) Journal Mrs. Adona Arterburn, Well-Known Resident, Dies Saturday Afternoon Mrs. Adona Arterburn, aged 78 years, passed away at her home at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon following an illness of a week, though she had been in failing health for several years. Mrs. Arterburn was one of the best known women of Kansas and her intimate friendships and acquaintances extended far beyond the immediate community. "Aunt Dona," as she was familiarly known, was loved by everyone and will be sadly missed. Adona Pinnell, daughter of Abraham and Fannie Pinnell, was born in Kansas township, Aug. 18, 1846. She was united in marriage, Nov. 22, 1866, to Norben Arterburn. To this union were born three children who survive, Ora Allen of South Bend, Ind, Clarence Ivan of Indianapolis, and Otto, of this city. The husband died Aug. 18, 1923. Surviving also, are two grandchildren, Wilson and Allen Arterburn and one great- granddaughter, June Adona Arterburn. In early life Mrs. Arterburn united with the Christian church and has always been a close follower of her Master. The funeral service was held at the Christian church Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the pastor, Rev. H. G. Harrell, officiating.
