Obituary of Mrs Ann BOYER, Edgar County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Cindy McCachern Obituary of Ann Boyer   Kansas (IL) Journal, 27 August 1914   Mrs. Ann Boyer Passes Away Mrs. Ann E. Boyer passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. T. Arterburn, Thursday, August 20, after a brief illness. Ann E. Pinnell, oldest daughter of Elijah and Mary Pinnell was born September 10, 1836, near here, and has made this her home ever since.  She was married to Francis Boyer, August 14, 1856 and to this union three children were born, H. O. Boyer of Paris, Mrs. L. T. Arterburn of this city and Horace F, who died in infancy.  She also leaves two brothers, Joseph R. Pinnell of Hume and Willis O. Pinnell of Kansas state. Aunt Ann, as she was familiarly called, was unusually strong for one of her age until about one year ago when she began failing in health, but was able to be about until Sunday when she took to her bed before death relieved her suffering.  She was conscious up to the time of her death at 1 o'clock P.M., Thursday. In 1861, she united with the Christian church under the ministry of Elder Thomas Goodman and remained faithful until death.  She was patient, kind to all and was never heard to murmur or complain.  The end was as peaceful as the close of a beautiful summer day, when daylight fades into night with increasing loveliness.   The floral offerings surpassed in profusion and beauty anything ever seen......following verse:  "The flowers, so typical of the life of her we mourn, mutely speak the pathos of a parting word, and are placed upon this casket by friends who loved the sweet sleeper.  On these petals are tears for the parting, and hopes of the meeting beyond the gates."  The last service was held at the Christian church, Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock by Rev. F. B. Thomas, assisted by Rev. W. W. Jacobs.  Interment was made in Fairview cemetery.
