Boyer, pioneer minister of Edgar county and retired farmer died at 11:30 o'clock Thursday night at his home at Brocton of Bright's disease of the kidneys, age 72 years. The funeral was conducted from the Pleasant Hill Christian church near Kansas at 11 o'clock Saturday morning and burial was made in the adjoining cemetery. The deceased, a son of Abraham and Harriet Boyer, was born near Kansas, October 18, 1837. Until the failing health prevented, he was active as a minister of the Christian church, devoting what time he could spare from his agricultural pursuits. Mr. Boyer was married when he was 21 years old to Miss Louisa Kibler of Kansas township, who survives him, together with five daughters and three sons, as follows: Mrs. Allie Merica, Francisville, Ind.; Mrs. Minnie Bandy, Fulton, Mo., Mrs. Dora Whinnery, Muncie, Ind; Mrs. Ollie Rardin, Paris; Thomas Boyer, Oakland, Cal; Jeptha Boyer, Sacramento, Cal., and Edward. The deceased leaves two brothers, John Fletcher Boyer of Kansas and Thomas Letterson Boyer of Martinsville. Mr. Boyer and family resided in Kansas township about thirteen years, at the end of which time they moved to a farm, located half a mile east of Brocton. About five years ago the deceased retired from active life and moved to the home in Brocton where he died. He was one time justice of the peace of Embarrass township. Mr. Boyer was in bad health for several years and bedfast about five weeks.
