Obituary of George Boyar, Edgar County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Cindy McCachern Obituary of George Boyar Kansas (IL) Journal, Thursday, January 14, 1904 Sudden Death of Geo. Boyar December 28, Geo. W. Boyar left Kansas for Jefferson county, Kentucky, where on the following day he was united in marriage to Mrs. Sarah J. Wheeler of that county. On January 7, a message was received here stating that Mr. Boyer had died that afternoon. Following the receipt of the message, his two sons, Otis and George departed on the night train for Kentucky to accompany the remains to this city. The body, accompanied by the widow, Otis and George Boyar and Robert Wiggington, reached this city Saturday night at 8:40. Mr. Boyars' death resulted from heart failure. He was sitting by the fire, smoking his pipe when the final summons came. He had no warning first the end was at hand. His wife and her daughter stepped out of the room for a few moments, leaving him well; when they returned he was dead. Geo. W. Boyar was born on a farm in Kansas township September 2, 1839, and since that time has never removed from the township. He has been a successful farmer and owned 100 acres of good land near this city. He was united in marriage to Miss Josephine Wilhoit, April 3, 1862. She departed this life December 4, 1902. He is survived by the following children: Roy, Lee, Mrs. Perkinson, Otis, Mrs. Kirkham, Mrs. McCombs, Mrs. Arterburn, George W., Sylvan, and Josie. The funeral services were conducted at Pleasant Hill church Sunday, January 10, 1904 at II o'clock by Elder M. B. Moffett of Paris.
