Obituary of Thomas Hurshel CRAIG, Edgar County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Cindy McCachern Obituary of Thomas Hurshel Craig Thomas Hurshel Craig, 83, of Chrisman, died at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday (April 9) at his home. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Chrisman Christian Chruch with Rev. Kenny Bass officiating. Burial was in the Cherry Point Cemetery. Organist was Lois Harp and vocalist was Vicki Hollingsworth. Pallbearers were Carlos Craig. Clark Craig, Justin Ragle, Rick Craig, Randy Craig, David Troxel and Scott Craig. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home of Paris was in charge of the arrangements. Craig was born September 13, 1912 in Shiloh Township in Edgar County, the son of Thomas M. and Susie F. Mershon Craig. He married Letha Mae Short on November 16, 1930 in Edgar County, who survives. Other survivors include four sons, H. Eugene Craig of Danville, Ira Marion Craig of Sandborn, IN, William Ray Craig of Carlinville, and Ralph Edwin Craig of Brocton; a daugher, Vora Sue Moreno of Chrisman; two brothers William Craig of Chrisman, Archie Craig of Newman; two sisters Elsie Childress of Chrisman, and Suella Loop of Indianola; seven grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Craig was a general and custom farmer and trucker until 1963. He was then employed at the Goose Pond Farm in Linton, IN until 1973 and Adwell Farms near Quincy from 1973 to 1978. He was an elder in the Chrisman Christian Church and a former Chrisman School Board member.
