Sebree From 10 May 1905, Clark County (IL) Herald The venerable father of M. F. Sebree, agt. for the Big 4 in this city, died at his home in Paris, Saturday. We take the following notice from the Paris Gazette: Anderson D. Sebree, a highly respected and pioneer resident of the city, died at 7:15 o'clock Saturday morning at the family residence on South Marshall street, after a brief attack of pneumonia, aged 87 years. The funeral occurred from the Christian church Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. H. M. Brooks officiating assisted, by Rev. Fims Idleman. The remains were laid to rest in Edgar cemetery. Mr. Sebree was born in Owen county, Ky, August 27, 1818, and was married at Paris, Ky, to Mary Eunice, whose death occurred about four years ago in this city. They removed to Paris in 1856 and for many years Mr. Sebree followed the trade of cabinet maker. He enlisted about March 1, 1862, as a private in Co. A, 54th Illinois volunteer infantry, being later commissioned as hospital steward of said regiment and serving as such until his discharge for disability, July 24, 1864. It is a fact of interest that Mr. Sebree volunteered under Dr. S. York, being present at the riot in Charleston, wherein the latter was killed and accompanying the remains to Paris for burial. Mr. Sebree was a lifelong member of the Christian church and has served for many years as an elder in the local branch of that denomination. He is survived by six sons and one daughter. **************************************************************** USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
