Obituary of Christopher STIFLE, Edgar County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Cindy McCachern Obituary of Christopher Stifle 25 May 1908, Paris Daily Beacon, page 4, col. 4 Christopher Stifle, a well known citizen of Paris, Ill., passed to his eternal reward may 24, 1908, at the age of 81 years. He was born Nov. 14, 1827, in Athens county, Ohio. Three surviving brothers, Jasper, Charles, and George and a sister Mrs. Mary Stifle Headley, all reside at Oblong, Ill. At Pomerby, Ohio, on April 14, 1849, Mr. Stifle was united in marriage to mary Ann Saunders who is left at the sunset of life to mourn a faithful companion. Four children came to bless this home: Orville who died in infancy, Casander Stifle Bonesteel, who died in young womanhood; Samaria Stifle Kimbrough, of Heber, Ark., and mary Stifle Snyder, who gladdened the declining years of this aged pilgrim with more than a daughter's devotion. Of his character it may well be said, his friends were many, his enemies few, his dealings honorable, his life beautiful and blameless, and his death peaceful and calm; for like one of old, "He was not, for God took him." And so may we lay all burdens down and in sweet silence, peaceful rest with "Him who doeth all things best." ***************************************************************** USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
