Smith Thursday, 9 January 1930, Kansas (IL) Journal Fred A. Smith, 80 years old, a prominent farmer and stockman of Grandview passed away Sunday morning at the Paris hospital where he was taken last Wednesday following a stroke of paralysis which he sufffered last week. The funeral service was held at the residence in Grandview at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. E. W. Kowalaxy of Homer officiating. Burial was in the Grandview cemetery. Pallbeareres were C. D. Smith, I. B. Clapp, Charles A. Smith, F. L. Clapp, Oscar Smith and Ed Smith. Mr. Smith was the son of Charles and Mariah Smith, being the eighth of ten children, all of whom ahve preceded him in death, with the exception of one brother, A. J. Smith, who resides at the home place, west of Grandview, where the deceased was born, Nov. 19, 1849. He attended the Grandview school and the Presbyterian seminary, directed by the Rev. Steel, one-half mile west of Grandview. He was married to Cornelia F. Wilhoit on Dec. 10, 1874. She passed away on Feb. 10, 1911. To this union were born three children, Freddie, who died in infancy, Pearl A., who died last March and Mrs. Robert R.
