Petaluma, Calif----Mrs. Barbara J Cooley of Paris has received word of the 
death of her mother, Mary Evitt Shonk, 75, who died Tuesday at her home in 
Petaluma.
     Mrs. Shonk was born Sept. 29, 1908, in Paris, the daughter of Emory and 
Eva Durnill Evitt.  She was married to Syra D. Shonk who preceded her in death 
in 1934.
     In addition to Mars. Cooley she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Harry 
(Deloris) Beaver of Chicago; one son, Richard Shonk of Petaluma; one sister, 
Mrs. William (Alma)Simpson of Paris; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-
grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
     Funeral services will be announced by the Stewart and Carroll Funeral 
Home in Paris.
