I estimated it was taken about 1860.. He died in 1861. While researching in the Edgar County Courthouse a clerk showed me an old book (about 1891) with pictures of early Edgar Co. pioneers and their homes. This was one of the pictures. I failed to write down the name of the book. John Asher was born in KY about 1799 and came to Edgar County in 1835 accordind to land deeds. He was the son of a Revolutionary War soldier Bartlett Asher who came in 1779 to Corn Island in the Ohio River near Louisville KY as part of Col George Rogers Clark's Army. His father William Asher came earlier with Col. Clark and partcipated in the attack on Fort Kaskaskia, IL and Vincennes, IN. He would be killed by Indians in 1780.
