Susan Griffin was the wife of Winston J. Griffin.  Her maiden name is unclear 
with some researchers saying it was Sinclair due to the middle name of her 
youngest son; while over descendants claim it was Lane.  She was appearently 
born about 1811 in Henry KY. based upon the census reports. They had 5 
children Sarah H., 1834; James Leonard, 1836;  Martha K., 1839; Newton B., abt 
1845; and John Sinclair, 1851   She died two days after the start of the Civil 
War on April 14, 1861 "about fifty years" old according to her gravestone.  
Winston would afterwards marry Ann McKee Thompson and father four more 
children by her.  They are Lydia, 1862; Winston J. Jr., 1865; Mary A., 1867; & 
Fannie J., 1868. She shares Winston's headstone in Cassidy Cemetery in Edgar 
Co Il.
