Lauher, Judge of said court: The undersigned Petitioner C. H. Bane respectfully represents to your Honor that the attached instrument of writing purports to be the last will and testament of William A. Leach Deceased. That the said deceased departed this Life at Kansas, Edgar County, Illinois on or about the 23rd day of August A. D. 1924, and also that William A. Leach at the time of his death, resided at Kansas in the County of Edgar and State of Illinois. Your Petitioner further represents that the said William A. Leach left at the time of his death, the following named heirs-at-law and legatees to-wit: Bonnie Williams, legatee, adult, Kitruit, Kansas Kate Trout, legatee, adult, Newton, Kansas Charles A. Leach, legatee, adult, 725 S. 19th St., Terre Haute, Ind. Lessie Weeden, legatee, adult Sadie Belle Bishop, legatee, adult The following grandchildren, being the children of Alva E. Leach of Kansas, Illinois, do hereby make this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills made by me at any time. It is my will and I do order all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon as convenient. It is my will and I do order that all my household goods be divided between Alva E. Leach, Belle Bishop, Kate Trout, Bonie Williams, and Lesie Weeden, Charles Leach, being my sons and daughters, to share and share alike. It is my will and I do order that all my personal property left after paying my indebtness shall be divided between my said children, Charles Leach, Alva E. Leach, my sons and Kate Trout, Bonnie Williams, Lesie Weeden, my daughters, share and share alike. It is my will and I do order that all monies I have or shall have advanced to any of my said children or shall be owing to me from any of them at my decease shall be considered as part residuary estate, and shall be deducted from his, her or their respective share. I have made provisions for my son Charles Leach and my daughter Belle Bishop by deeds. I hereby appoint C. H. Bane as my executor of this my last will and testament. The name of the above-described pensioner who was last paid at the rate of $72 per month to Aug. 4, 1924, has this day been dropped from the roll because of death, Aug. 23, 1924. State of Illinois, County of Edgar On this 15th day of November, A. D. 1871 personally appeared before me A. B. Powell County Clerk a duly authorized officer of a court of record in and for the county and state aforesaid William A. Leach who being duly sworn according to law declares: That he is the identical William A. Leach who enlisted in the military service of the United States at Greensburg Decatur County Indiana on the 18th Day of August A. D. 1862 in Co. D 7th Regiment of Indiana Vols Infty in the war of 1861 and was honorably discharged on the 8th day of August A. D. 1865 that his personal description is as follows age 33 years height five feet and eleven inches complexion fair, sandy hair, hazel eyes that while in the service aforesaid and in the line of his duty he was captured in battle of the Wilderness Virginia on the 5th day of May 1864 by the enemy and taken to Andersonville Prison and while there he contracted the diarhoea which has been chronic ever since and scurvey from which he has not recovered he was treated by the rebel physicians in Andersonville about three months and was then removed to Florence(?) where he was treated by then about five months and was sent within our lines to Wilmington N. C. where he remained at the Rebel Barricks from Feb. 27, 1865 to March 25th/65 that the scurvey broke out in three places on my legs and --- runny sores for over one year after my return home and have not had the right use of my legs since ----- I get out I cannot walk without the use of a cane that I lived in Shelby County state of Indiana about two years and since then I have in Kansas Edgar County state of Illinois and my occupation has been a farmer and that I have not been employed in the military, marines or civil service of the United States since my discharge therefrom August 8, 1865. That he hereby appoints William L. Foulke of Paris, Edgar County, state of Illinois his attorney to prosecute his claim. That he has never recovered or applied for a pension; that his residendce is Kansas Edgar County state of Illinois and his post office address is Kansas Edgar County Illinois. (attested by Andrew P. Titus in Marion Co., Ind by a J. P. children - lists 6 living and four dead; Ira G. b. Mar 10, 1866, Harvey b. Apr. 17, 1870, Cora b. Nov. 25, 1872, and Edward b. June 29, 1880 Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt from your Office of application for Pension No. 183,877 and to return it hereewith, with such information as is furnished by the files of this office. It appears from the rolls on file in this office that Willaim A. Leach was mustered into service as private in Co. D, 7th Regiment of Ind. Volunteers. On the Muster Roll of Co. D of that Regiment, for the months from July 1862 to April 30, 1864 he is reported present May and June 1864 absent missing in action May 5 64 (Co. was in action at the Wilderness Va. Ma6y 5/64) and so reptd to Aug. 31 64 (last roll on file) He was Mustered out of Serivce on an Ind. Muster out roll Aug. 8, 65 at Indianapolis, Ind. Prisoner of War Records show Wm W. or W. A. Leach or Leech said Co. and Regt. captured at Wilderness, Va. May 5 64 paroled at W. E. Ferry N. C. Feb. 26, 65. Admitted to Hospl. Div. No. 1 Annapolis date or cause not stated and was sent to Camp Chase Ohio Mch 29, 65 where he arrived Apr 5 65 and was furloughed Apl. 8 65 for 30 days. No later record. No other evidence of medical treatment or disability on said records. THis report is accepted as referring to William A. Leach Co. D 7 Ind. Vols.
