Will of John CUNNINGHAM - 1820, Edwards County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 1999 Gwendolyn Plyler Know all men by these presents that I John Cunningham of the state of Illinois and county of Edwards, do by these presents, give, grant and transfer, convey & confirm unto my heirs and legal _____ forever, that is to say, Stewart Cunningham of Gibson County State of Indiana and Patsy Shields, wife of Booker Shields, William Cunningham, Polly Cunningham, Betsy Cunningham and Sally Cunningham all of this place, to have and to hold from this day forward and I do by these presents transfer, convey, release, confirm quit claim and set over the following property hereafter mentioned together and with all the privilege and apparatus thereunto belonging to them and of them their heirs and assigns forever. Firstly I give unto my eldest son Stewart Cunningham a certain Negro girl named Delia, Secondly, I give unto Patty Shields wife of Booker Shields one wagon and harness. Thirdly, I give unto William Cuningham one set of blacksmiths tools, twenty head of hogs, eight head of sheep, one plough, two weeding hoes and two hundred bushels of corn. Fourthly, I give unto Polly Cunningham one bay horse five years old, one bed and bedding, one cow and calf, two head of sheep, and one shelf of crockery ware and one table one _____. Fifthly, I give unto Betsy Cunningham one bay horse with bald face nineteen years old, two cows and calves, one bed and bedding, one chest, one looking glass, four chairs, one large pot, one Dutch oven, one ___ fire dog and one spinning wheel. Sixthly and lastly, I give unto Sally Cunningham three ___ ___ cattle and __ smooth irons. Given under my hand and seal this 17th day of April 1820.
