Otto T. F. Gust, age 74, former editor, publisher and founder of the Casey Daily Reporter, passed away at 7:45 a.m. June 7 (Friday), at his home at 201 East Harrison Street following a lingering illness. Mr. Gust was born October 24, 1888, the son of Gottlieb and Emma Miller Gust, in Effingham county. He was united in marriage to Edythe Draves on October 24, 1911 in Dieterich. They have been residents of Casey since 1937. Mr. Gust was founder and charter member of the Casey Lions club; a 32nd degree Mason; member of Zorah Shrine of Terre Haute; honorary member of Casey Fire Department; 45 years in Scouting work; U. S. mail service, eight years; member of National Gard Co. G.; City of Casey employee; member of the First Methodist Church and very active in civic affairs. Surviving are the wife, Edythe; two daughters, Alyce Groothuis of Casey and Ruth Cottrill; a sister, Miss Dora Gust of Casey; and nine grandchildren. Friends may call at the Markwell Funeral Home after nine o'clock Saturday morning. Burial in the Casey-Cumberland Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Martin Gust in 1957 and a sister, Clara Gust in 1907.
