Ramsey News Journal (Ramsey IL) 18 April 1924 THE DEATH OF MRS. NANCY SHIPPEY Mrs. Nancy Shippy of Herrick died Thursday, after a paraletic stroke which came late Wednesday. Mrs. Shippey suffered a similar attack of paralysis about a year ago, but partially recovered and though she had not been strong since then, had been fairly active until her death. Mrs. Shippey leaves her husband Seth Shippey, with whom she lived on a farm one and one half miles south of Herrick. The Herrick Reporter (Herrick IL) 18 Dec 1929 OBITUARY Seth Shippy was born Nov 24, 1852 and departed from us on Dec. 13, 1929 His mother died when he was an infant and his father when he was about 10 years old. Mr. and Mrs. Stoddard of Ramsey, ILL. then gave him a home. Thus he was left alone in the world, having no brothers or sisters. He came into this community when a young man and was a farmer. He united himself in Christian living with the Christian church. On Feb. 23, 1877 he was united in marriage to Nancy Davis. To this union were born nine children. His wife and four children preceeded him in death: his wife died April 10, 1924:son Edward on March 13, 1879: son Clarence William on Jan 20 1884: an infant: and daughter Mrs. Addie (Shippy) Hawyer. The following children survive: Mrs. Clara Feltenberger and Mrs Julia Gustin of Decatur, Mrs. Etta Burrus of Assumption, Mr Rollie Shippy and Mr. Ben Shippy of Herrick. There are eigthteen living grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Thus passes another of our best citizens, who was highly esteemed by all; as a good neighbor, a kind father, and a christian man. Funeral services were held in the Christian church at 1:30 Sunday afternoon, Dec 15 1929.
