The greater part of his life was spent in Fayette county, Illinois. On Aug. 14 1884, he united in marriage with Miss Josephine Woolsey of Otego Township. To this union seven children were born, namely: Clara who died in infancy, Clarence, Lewellyn, and Mrs. Maude Brown of Macon, Illinois; Glen of Springfield, and Nellie of this city. A daughter, Ina, preceded him in death five years ago. He is survived by one brother, S. G. Wantland of Oran, Mo. and ten grandchildren. On Aug. 30., 1924, he was married to Miss Lizzie Bolyard of Vandalia, Illinois. His illness was of short duration and his sudden death came as a great surprise to his relatives and many friends. The funeral was held at 2:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Christian church, services conducted by Rev. Paul Bolman. The floral gifts were carried by Mr. Wantland's grandsons. His many friends and acquaintances extend to the bereaved family their deepest sympathy.
