Obit of Fleming Ahls Dated in ink as July 17, 1958. Newspaper unknown. Ex-Johnston City Resident Died at Gary Last Night. Fleming Ahls, former Johnston City resident, died Wednesday night in Gary, Ind., where he resided. He was said to have become suddenly ill the day before his death. Ahls, 46, a 1930 graduate of the Johnston City high school was a bachelor who lived at the home of his sister, Mrs. Olin Shirley, in Gary. A World War Two veteran, he had been employed as a bookkeeper for the United States Steel Co. at Gary for 26 years. He was a member of the Baptist church in Gary. In addition to Mrs. Shirley, he is survived by his mother Mrs. Maggie Ahls, Gary, and another sister, Mrs. Neal Waterbury, PA. Funeral services will be held at 7 pm today in Gary and the body will be returned to Johnston City Saturday. It will lie in state at the Murman- Wilson funeral home in Johnston City after noon Saturday. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Barnett Williams, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Johnston City, officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery in Marion.
