Obit of Soloman Austin Dated in by hand in ink as June 18, 1947. Newspaper unknown but probably the Benton newspaper of Benton Illinois. Soloman Austin, 85, Dies Today At Home Here Soloman Austin, 85, died at his home at 303 North Benton Road, at 4 am today. He had been in failing health for the past three months. A pioneer resident of White County, Austin came to West Frankfort two years ago to be near his son, Lymon Austin of this city, who survives. The aged man was a retired farmer. In addition to his son, he is survived by his wife Louise, and four grandchildren. He was a member of the Baptist church of Ewing and held a membership in the Modern Woodmen of America lodge. The body is lying in state at the family home, from where services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. C.W. Maulding of Mt. Vernon will officiate. Burial will be in the Big Prairie cemetery near Carmi.
