Obit of Richard C. Patterson Dated in by hand in ink as July 26, 1946. Newspaper unknown but probably the Daily American from West Frankfort, Ill. Richard C. Patterson, 48, rural mail carrier and former postmaster at Johnston City died at 6:30 pm last night at his home, 301 West Eighth Street, in Johnston City. In ill health for the past three years, his condition had been critical for three months. Patterson served as postmaster at Johnston City for nine years. In recent years, before being forced to retire, he was employed as a rural mail carrier there. He had been a resident of Johnston City for twenty-five years and was a member of Lake Creek Masonic lodge and the First Baptist church in that city. Besides his wife, Mrs. Vivian Patterson, he is survived by a son, Richard Gail, and a daughter, Marjorie Elizabeth, both at home; three brothers, Joe, Tony and Oscar Patterson, McKenzie, Tenn., four sisters, Mrs. Susan Smith, Mrs. Cletis Dunn, McKenzie Tenn., Mrs. E.B. Rucker of Fulton Ky., and Mrs. Earlie Jones of Memphis, Tenn. Funeral rites will be observed at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the First Baptist church in Johnston City. Interment will be in the Johnston City cemetery.
