Obit of Emma C. Rice Dated in by hand in ink as May 4, 1947. Newspaper unknown. Mother of Mrs. Sidney Tweedy Dies in Johnston City. Funeral rites for Mrs. Emma C. Rice, 70, who died at 9 o'clock Sunday morning at her home 1008 North Grand avenue, in Johnston City, were observed this afternoon from the Baptist Tabernacle in Johnston City with Rev. G.C. Kinney officiating. Interment was in the IOOF cemetery at Benton. Mrs. Rice, mother of Mrs. Sidney Tweedy of this city, had been in failing health for several months and critically ill for the past six weeks. Besides Mrs. Tweedy, she is survived by three other daughters, Mrs. Frank Lucas, Forest Park; Mrs. R. M. Poteete and Miss Wilma Rice, Johnston City; two sons, Artie Rice, Mt. Vernon; Frank Rice, Oakland, Calif., and a sister Mrs. Dewey Auten of Benton. Mrs. Rice, widow of Frank Rice, who died in 1945, has been a resident of Johnston City forty-five years. She was a member of the Baptist Tabernacle and Rebekah lodge of Johnston City.
