"Cuba Journal", Thursday, Oct. 22, 1931 GEORGE I. HENDERSON The many friends of George Ike Henderson, a resident of this locality for more than fifty years, were shocked Sunday to learn that he had died suddenly about 11:15 Sunday forenoon from a sudden heart attack that carried him off before a physician could reach his side. Mr. Henderson, who was nearly eighty years of age, was at home with Mrs. Henderson, their son, Clayton and wife, having justleft, and he was taking a bath in the kitchen when the attack came. He fell, striking his head on the range, cutting himself badly. After vainly trying to stop the flow of blood, Mrs. Henderson called central and told the operator to send Dr. Welch out and to call their son, Clarence, and returned to her husband, but before aid could reach him he had passed away. George Isaac Henderson, son of Isaac and Mary Ann (Griffith) Henderson, was born in Miami county, Indiana, on January 27, 1852, and came to Illinois in early manhood. On January 2, 1881, he married Eliza J. Herbert and to them were born one daughter and three sons. They are Mrs. Della Windsor, living five miles northeast of town; Floyd, living east of Fiatt, and Clarence and Clayton of Cuba. There are also two brothers living, William Henderson of Wyoming and Ed Henderson of Bedford, Iowa. For fifty years Mr. Henderson had lived on his farm a mile west of town. Up until about twenty-five years ago he actively practiced the profession of veterinarian, but in recent years he has entirely retired and lived the lilfe of a retired farmer. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the home conducted by Rev. L. S. Kidd of Weldon, a former pastor of the Cuba methodist Protestant church, assisted by Reb. L. E. Hague, paster of the Cuba church. Burial was in the Cuba cemetery. The pall bearers were: John Cameron, C. J. Mowery, Ray Murphy, Curtis Heller, Everette Mosher, and William Nelmes. --------------------------------------------------------------------- UGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations or persons.
