In the Circuit Court within and for the County of Gallatin begun and holden in the Court House in Shawneetown in said County of Gallatin on 20th the day of Sept. A.D. 1881. Present-Honorable C.D. Conder?-Judge R.J. ? Sheriff D.M. Kriesal? Att. J.F. Nolan-Clerk In the matter of the Naturalization of Daniel(David?) Daily an alien, To the Honorable Chau? D. Conger? Judge of the Circuit Court of said County. Your petitioner Daniel Dailey an alien, free white person, a native of Ireland in Europe respectfully represents unto your Honor, that he arrived within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States about 32 years since, to wit: on or about the ? day of March A.D. 1849. That he enlisted in the Regular Army of the United States, in Company K, 87 regiment of the Illinois Volunteer Infantry that he has continued to serve therein until the 7th day of October, 1863 when he was honorably discharged therefrom; that he has arrived at the age of 21 years; that he has arrived in the United States One year and upwards, to wit, for the term of 32 years, and in the state of Illinois last past, that it is BONA FIDE his intentions to become a citizen of the United States, and renounce forever all alligence and fidelity to every foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty, whatever and particularly the alligence and fidelity in anyway he owes to England or Europe? whereof he was heretofore a citizen or subject. State of Illinois, Gallatin County. Daniel Daily being duly sworn, upon his oath, says that the above petetion is true. Subscribed and sworn to me this day of 20th day of Sept. A.D. 1881. State of Illinois, Gallatin County We Patrick Smith? and William Blockard? of the county of Gallatin and state of Illinois having first been duly sworn, do depose and say, that we have been personally acquainted with Daniel Daily an alien who has applied and admitted as a naturalized citizen of the United States, for the space of 15 year last past and upwards; that during the whole of said time he has continued reside within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States, and one year at least, in the said state of Illinois, proceeding the day of the date hereof; and that as far as our knowledge and observation has extended, he has behaved himself as a man of good moral character, and appears to be attached to the principles contained in the Constition of the United states, and well disposed to the good order, well-being and happiness of the same; and that is BONA FIDE his intention to become a citizen of the United States.
