Deeds: Forest to Brown, 1827, Book B, Greene County, Illinois This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Pat Johnson Greene County Illinois Deed Book B Carrollton, Illinois Pages 307 & 308 William Forest to Joseph Brown ---- Recorded August 1st 1827 This indenture made this fifth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and twenty seven between William Forest of the County of Greene and State of Illinois of the one part and Joseph Brown of the aforesaid County of Greene of the other part. Witnesseth that the said William Forest for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have given granted bargained sold confirmed and conveyed and by these presents do give grant bargain sell confirm and convey unto him the said Joseph Brown and his heirs and assigns all the estate right title interest property claim and demand whatsoever either in law (the bottom pf this page is impossible to read and there is at least one line there)(continued from page 308) singular a certain tract of land situate lying and being in the said County of Greene and State of Illinois being the East half of the North East quarter of Section twenty-five of Township Eight North in Range Twelve West of the third principal in the District of lands offered for sale at Edwardsville Illinois. Containing eighty acres more or less together with all and singular the improvements waterways privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging or in anywise appertaining To have and to hold all and singular the above mentioned and described tract of land situate lying and being as aforesaid together with all and singular the improvements water ways privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging or in anywise appertaining unto him the said Joseph Brown and his heirs and assigns forever. And said William Forest doth by these presents warrant and forever defend all and singular the before mentioned and described tract of land with the appurtenances thereto belonging unto him the said Joseph Brown and his heirs and assigns and forever the claim or claims of all persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said William Forest has hereuto set his hand and seal the day and year aforesaid. William Forest (seal) Signed in presence of us: Benjamin C. Brown, Jacob White State of Illinois, Greene County (seal) I Jehu Brown certify that on this day the above named William Forrest personally came before ne one of the Justices of the peace in and for the county aforesaid and acknowledged the signing and sealing of the above conveyance to be his own voluntary act and deed for the premises therein mentioned.
