Deeds: McLaughlin to Brydia, 1845 - Book Q, Greene County, Illinois This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Pat Johnson Greene County Illinois Deed Book Q Carrollton, Illinois Pages 278 & 279 Josephus McLaughlin to L [Lammaia] W Brydia ---- Filed November 5 1845 This indenture made and entered into this third day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty five between Josephus McLaughlin & Vilotta McLaughlin his wife of the County of Greene and State of Illinois of the first part and L W Brydia of the County of Greene & State of Illinois of the second part witnesseth that the said Josephus McLaughlin & Vilotta McLaughlin his wife party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand and fifty dollars in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged do hereby grant bargain and sell convey and confirm unto the party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever the following described tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the county of Greene and Jersey and State of Illinois and designated as the North West quarter of the South East quarter of Section Twenty nine and the South East quarter of the North East quarter of Section Twenty two and the North East quarter of the South West quarter of Section No. Twenty Nine all in Town nine north of Range Eleven West of the third principal meridian Containing in all One hundred and twenty acres more or less Subject to a certain mortgage executed by Moses Lemon & SarahAnn Lemon to secure the payment of a certain note to George Woodman there in specified dated in the month of January A.D. One thousand Eight hundred and forty two, the force & effect of which is in no wise to be effected by this deed together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to have and to hold the above described premises unto the said party his heirs and assigns forever and the said party of the first part the aforesaid premises unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever against the claim or claims of all persons whomsoever receipt as to the aforesaid mortgage doth and will warrant and defend by these presents. In Witness whereof the said party of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year above mentioned. Watson a justice of the peace do certify that Josephus McLaughlin and Vilotta his wife whose signatures appear to the foregoing deed of conveyance and who are personally known to me to be the persons whose names signed the same day appeared before me and they acknowledged that they had signed sealed and delivered the same as their free act and deed for the uses and purposes therein expressed and Vilotta McLaughlin wife of the said Josephus McLaughlin having been by me examined separate and apart from her said husband acknowledged that she had executed the same and relinquished her Dower to the premises therein conveyed voluntarily freely and without compulsion of her said husband.
