On the 1st and second of this month we had quite a snow storm but that will be the last for this season. Nothing definite has been said about our sailing date, although we expect to get away sometime in June. Tomorrow I put on my third service strip for being in this country for eighteen months. But it does not seem that long to me. We are part of general headquarters now and probably will stay on until most of the troops are out of France. Some of the papers in the states say that we are at the port ready to sail now but that is not so. While at Nice I went in swimming but the water was so cold I did not enjoy it. The water is a darn sight colder than water in the pump branch at home. We could see snow on the mountains and the __?__ grounds and that did not make things warmer. I ate a great many oranges while I was on my leave tho they are much dearer than what we get in the states. The small ones sell for five cents and the larger ones are sold three for twenty cents. I was disappointed about fish. I was sure that I could have nice fresh fish any time but one try was enough. I had flounder one meal but it was strong and I could not eat it. I went to the market one day to try to find some that was fresh but could not. I am glad that you have some water melons planted as I know that I will enjoy them for last summer is the first year I never ate any that I remember. I am mailing some post cards of this town. Last year when we were here we could not send post cards. Did the parts of the Boche rifle ever reach home. I suppose the helmet and mask were lost. Will write again soon. Your son Corp Lloyd J.
